On November 4, 2024, FURN5.0 project partners met online to review progress in the project implementation, aimed at integrating Industry 5.0 within the EU furniture sector.
FederLegno (FLA) presented findings from recent desk research that mapped Industry 5.0 maturity levels across the sector in Europe. The research highlighted the importance of human-centered technology, advocating for a manufacturing model that empowers workers, optimizes resource use, and embraces circular economy practices, such as resource-efficient design, renewable materials, and smart energy management. Discussions underscored how these principles, coupled with smart technologies, can enhance production efficiency and strengthen industrial resilience.
As part of FURN5.0, a practical guide and an online self-assessment tool are being developed to assist companies in deploying Industry 5.0 practices. The preliminary survey results, used to identify key technologies and topics for the guide and tool, were also presented.
To further support industry engagement, the newly launched FURN5.0 website will offer resources and tools to help companies adopt Industry 5.0 principles. This platform will also facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the sector.
The survey results and research findings on Industry 5.0 in Europe will soon be accessible on the FURN5.0 website. Stay tuned!
